Some days it is hard to turn on the TV or read the headlines of the national news; gun violence, military conflicts on two continents, election year arguments, social systems failing, and more.\u00a0 But the topic that is never in the headlines is the tragic absence of the Word of God in our national conversations and at times, lives.\u00a0 In fact, it can feel as though there is a neglect and disregard for the Word of God.\u00a0 But this is very similar to the current time we are entering with our study of 1 Samuel.\u00a0 Both then and now, like a desert barren and starved for a sign of life, the apathy directed towards the Word of God is a tragedy of unmatched proportion and consequence.\u00a0 Especially when one of God’s greatest gifts to His people is His Word.<\/p>\n
