We are beginning an Advent series based on four songs of Christmas found in the Gospel of Luke.<\/p>\n

In this passage Luke records the birth and maturation of John, the forerunner or herald of the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ. This passage can be divided into three major portions; FIRST<\/strong>, the account of the birth and naming of John (57-66); SECOND<\/strong>, the prophetic psalm of praise by John\u2019s father, Zachariah (67-79); and THIRD<\/strong>, the brief narrative of John\u2019s growth and place of residence (80).
