2 Samuel: Cries of Confession. Psalm 51
Unconfessed sin hinders true worship, robbing believers of the joy of fellowship, placing them under the LORD’s disciplining hand, and precluding them from meaningful praise.
David understood that only God could restore him. Every petition in this psalm relied on what only God could do. It’s a profound testament to God’s gracious character that sinners like David (and us) can even dare to petition Him, especially for forgiveness.
Follow David’s example for Faithfulness: Own up to your sin, yearn for God’s fellowship, and be real with Him. God didn’t just send His Son to spare you from hell- He wants a vibrant fellowship and friendship with you. Don’t let sin- or your refusal to truly bring your failures to Him- come between you and Him.
