Where do you find your significance, your fulfillment? Many believers in Christ are trapped in the false self-worth equation of My Performance + Others’ Opinions of me = My Significance

The Apostle Paul warns us about belief in false systems which so easily trap the unwary.
“Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. Colossians 2:8 (NLT)

Today’s message is from Colossians 2:8-15 and is entitled “Completely Forgiven” which declares that for the believer in Jesus Christ your significance in found in Him “and in Him you have been made complete” Col.2:10. This completeness is based on the absolute total forgiveness in Christ, “ . . . having forgiven us all our transgressions” Col.2:13-14

False teachers propose that “something more” is needed to make the earnest disciple complete. It may be new knowledge, freshly revealed to the cult leader; it may be ecstatic experiences which are supposed to usher the individual into new vistas of insight; it may be legalistic activity which demonstrates sincerity.

Paul addresses these lies where he tells us that we are full in the full one. Jesus Christ is completely God, and we are complete in him. We just need to grow. The Christian always grows by nutrition (feeding on his Word) and not by addition.
