Teacher: Gary Nock
Scripture: Colossians 2:1-7

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him” –  Colossians 2:6

To some, that verb walk is very uninteresting. We would rather Paul wrote, “Mount up with wings” or “run with enthusiasm” but in this context Paul simply tells us to walk. That day to day, step by step, lifestyle decision to follow Christ. We are exhorted to continually walk in the sound teachings that the believer in Christ was saved from the penalty of sin by grace, and that we are being saved from the power of sin by grace, and that we will be saved from the very presence of sin by grace.

The false teachers in Colossae, like the false teachers of our own day, would not deny the importance of Jesus Christ. They would simply dethrone Him, giving Him prominence but not preeminence.

Is Christ preeminent or just prominent in your life? Is your life marked by encouragement, love for others, and overflowing with gratitude?

The New Year is a good time to take inventory and determine to walk in Christ.
