Last week’s message to the church in Thyatira is in direct to comparison to this week’s church in Sardis. Last week’s church was doing “more than it had at first.” They were in a growth mode and expanding beyond their control and monitoring. But Sardis is experiencing stagnation and regression. It doesn’t have heresy creeping into its beliefs and it isn’t in need of theological correction. But it didn’t have life.
